Every time there is a new beginning , it does not mean we have to change every time. It does mean that we have to learn from past mistakes. It is the only way to learn by making mistakes. When I was a kid growing up making mistakes was a cardinal sin in the environment I grew up in. However in the end you have to consider the fact that everything is a learning experience and focus on taking everything as a positive.
It is not easy at first however, it does take a lot of baby steps to come to what you want at the end. Whatever it is everyday is a new day.
